PRE-CONFERENCE
WORKSHOP - APPLYING THE QM RUBRIC
A pre-conference workshop will be
given by Litsa Varonis, from the University of Akron, USA

This workshop will explore the
Quality Matters Rubric and faculty peer review process and will
prepare you to be part of an initiative that positively impacts
the design of online/blended courses and ultimately, student
learning and success. Quality Matters (QM, http://www.qualitymatters.org)
is a non-profit program currently in use in over 700
institutions in the U.S. as well as institutions in Canada,
Bermuda, Singapore, Australia, England, and Saudi Arabia.
QM is designed to improve the
quality of online and blended courses by establishing a
peer-reviewed quality assurance review process. You will become
familiar with the Quality Matters standards and practice
applying the QM standards to a real online course. Participants
in this hands-on workshop can be online/blended instructors,
instructional designers, and/or faculty members & faculty
developers. After successfully completing this workshop, you
will be eligible to register for the online Peer Reviewer
Course. In addition, you will gain ideas to improve your own
courses using the QM Standards. Successful completers will be
able to download an individualized QM Training Certificate.

Who should attend?
Faculty, instructional designers, and
administrators interested in learning more about effective
online course design and/or the Quality Matters peer review
process.
Cost:
As a result of QM’s sponsorship of ICICTE
2013, the regular fees for this course ($200 for subscribers and
$300 for non-subscribers) have been waived. There will be a
nominal charge of 50 Euros to cover the cost of the room and
lunch.
